He was predeceased by: his daughter Bonnie Annette Fortner; his parents, Harley Fortner and Burnie Fortner; and his brothers, James A., Roy, Kenneth, Homer, Wayne and Larry Fortner.

He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Ann Fortner; his son Greg Fortner (Lisa); his grandchildren, Ethan Fortner (Sarah) and Grace Fortner; his great grandchildren, Noah and Nate Fortner; and his sister Beatrice Newton. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews.
