He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Elkins and Helen Elkins. He is survived by: his sisters, Brenda Browning of Odum and Esther Rowe (David) of Townsend; his nieces and nephews, Rob Browning (Kim), Josh Browning (Joy), Bree Browning, Cora Nichols, Nena Woodard and David Rowe, Jr.; and his significant other Elaine Faulk (Doug Williams). He is also survived by 12 great nieces.
