It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mattie Griffin Lawson (Toccoa, Georgia), who passed away on May 19, 2024, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John C. Griffin and Margaret Bowden Griffin; her husband Ray Herschel Lawson; her children, Carolyn Lawson, Jimmy Lawson and Timmy Lee Lawson; and her brothers, Rastus Griffin, Hill Lee Griffin and John Snubbie Griffin.
She is survived by: her children, Wanda Lawson, Linda Chitwood of Cornelia, Brenda Carter of Toccoa, Diane Carter of Toccoa and Allen Lawson of Toccoa. She is also survived by great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.
