He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Eugene Pope and Mary Rachel Howard Pope; his grandson Jericho Pope; and his siblings, Raymond Pope and Betty Jean Pope Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Kim Pope Scarborough of Monroe, Christy Marie Pope of Jasper, Georgia, Toby David Pope of Easley, Christopher Matthew Nichols of Stockbridge, Robert Whitfield Shepherd of Covington and Richard Allan Shepherd of Mansfield, Georgia. He is also survived by four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
