He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Hunter and Willie Lathan Hunter; and his siblings, Virginia Hunter, Barbara Hunter, Mary Lee Hunter, James Charles Hunter and Claude Hunter.

He is survived by: his sons, Douglas Hunter of Toccoa and Bucky Hunter of Toccoa; and his brothers, Avery Hunter of Martin and Thomas Lathan of Greenville. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
