He was predeceased by: his parents, Junior Winfred Pitts and Nellie Moore Pitts Sumpter; his wife Ruth Norris Pitts; and his siblings, Kathy Maye, Johnny Pitts and Roy Sumpter.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Pitts of Eastanollee, Tina Duncan of Lavonia, Wendy Harris of Eastanollee, Melissa Turpin (Michael Roach) of Martin, Tabitha Van Slyke of Alaska, Angie King (Peter) of Toccoa, Harold Roach (Amanda) of Eastanollee and Perry Pace (Kristy) of Demorest; his grandchildren, Jason Duncan, Ashley Duncan, Kensey Turpin (Allysa) and Madison Harris; and his siblings, Steve Sumpter of Toccoa, Tony Sumpter (Cheryl) of Turnerville, Terry Sumpter of Demorest, Faye Miller of Toccoa, Ann York of Toccoa and Linda Frady of Clarkesville. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
