He was predeceased by: his parents, LaVern Tilton and Margie Faye Tilton (Willis). He is survived by: his wife Anita Dale Tilton; and his daughters, Sara and Becky Tilton.

In 2014 he retired due to his Parkinson's diagnosis and the family moved to Toccoa in 2016.

“Sorry to hear about Curtis, my oldest and dearest friend. He and I were very close back in 1969 and onward for several years in high school. He managed to get me in the American Blues Band and we always shared our dreams of music and life. He was a true inspiration to me with his bass and flute playing. I will always remember him and his sense of humor. The world is less shiny with him gone now. I hope to see him in the next world. To his wife and daughters, please accept my condolences. Doug R”
