He was predeceased by: his son Joshua; his brother Alan; and his parents, Dorothy Murray Cantrell and George James Cantrell. He is survived by: his wife Beverly Cantrell; his daughter Kimberly Gibson (Jay); his stepchildren, Brandi Thomas (Keith) and Jeremy Bramlett (Brandie); his grandchildren, Hollie, Braden, Isaac, Kaegan, Kenzie, Alyssa, Derrick, Bailey, Parker, Dalton, Taylor, Dylan, Catlynne, Claire and Chloie; his great grandchild Kash Thomas; and his siblings, Rhonda Isbell, Marice Bentley (Steve), Debbie Brawner (Dennis) and Mark Cantrell (Rita).
