It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William A. Merritt of Tifton, Georgia, born in Sparta, Georgia, who passed away on September 21, 2022, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Allen Merritt and Bessie Kitchens Merritt; and his sisters, Grace Powell, Jean Pike and Faye Daniels.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Jo Merritt of Tifton; his son Russell A.; his daughter-in-law Elaine Merritt of Mitchell; his daughter Rhonda; his son-in-law Gregory Matson of Blakely; his stepchildren, Keith Covington of Blairsville, Indiana, Glenda Mobley of Fitzgerald, Regina Sumner (Gary) of Tifton and Joni Nichols of Ocilla; and his siblings, Bobby Merritt of Mitchell and Alice Swann of Nashville. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
