He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Vanags and Zuzanna Bogis Vanags; and his siblings, John Vanags, Joseph Vanags, Peter Vanags and Mara Ashline.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Finnance Vanags; his sons, Jeffrey (Andrea Vanags) and Dr. Jonas (Heather Vanags); his grandchildren, Leo Vanags, Kailyn Vanags and Madelyn Vanags; and his brothers, Alexander Vanags and Bruce Vanags. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
