He is survived by: his wife Barbara Bojorquez Kirkland of Tifton; his son Robert; his daughter-in-law Asonda Kirkland of Omega; his daughter Esther; his son-in-law Ray Cooper of Berrien County; his siblings, W. I. Jr. (Peggy Kirkland), Buddy (Geneva Kirkland) and Becky; and his brother-in-law Buddy Lynn of Georgetown. He is also survived by nine grandsons; five granddaughters; four great-grandsons; and four great-granddaughters.
