He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Herbst and Nellie Mae Talbot Herbst; his sons, Jason Lee Herbst and Michael Hill; and his grandchildren, Mason Meins and Jesse James Herbst.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Lockerman Herbst of Tifton; his children, Tom Herbst of Iowa, Tim Herbst of Iowa, Prentice Hill of Tifton, George Hill of Tifton, Keisha Herbst Smith of Alabama, Kayla Herbst of Tifton and Michelle Hill Barfield of Tifton; and his siblings, Larry Herbst of Iowa, Richard Herbst of Iowa and Laura Hudson of Indiana. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
