He is survived by: his children, Mary Gerdes of Thomasville, Brenda Smith of Plant City, FL, Jeffrey Gerdes of Plant City, FL and Greg Gerdes of Riverview, FL; his brother Bob Gerdes; and his grandchildren, Melissa Gerdes, Carolyn K Dennis (Mark), Jericho Collins (Kaleb), Aaron Smith, Ryan Smith (LeAnna), Jeffrey Smith and Stewart Smith Jr.. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
