He was predeceased by: his parents, James Ernest Dawson and Wilma Lucile Mauldin Dawson; and his siblings, Elizabeth Smith, Rhunette Aydlotte and Ernest Dawson.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Smith Dawson of Thomaston; his children, Angela Allen (Greg) of Thomaston, Kathy Hall (John) of Milroy, IN, Jim Daniel (Christi) of Thomaston, Joe Daniel (Lori) of Reynolds, GA and Mike Dawson (Karen) of Tucson, AZ; his siblings, Diane Slaton (Walter) of Oxford, NC and Bobby Dawson of Jackson, GA; and his brother-in-law Roswell Aydlotte of Yatesville, GA.. He is also survived by Thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
