He was predeceased by: his parents, Lonnie Holmes and Lona Holmes; and his brothers, James Holmes (Bo), Bobby Holmes (Sonny) and John Wayne Holmes.
He is survived by: his wife Sallie Fay Thompson Holmes; his children, Sheri Compton (Mark) of Thomaston and Al Holmes (Janet) of Thomaston; his sister Lola Brannon (Ted) of Jonesboro, GA; his grandchildren, Anna Lynn Holmes of Dawsonville, GA, Alyssa Nicole Holmes of Thomaston and Andy Compton (Heather) of Lincoln, AL; and his sister-in-law Shirley Holmes of Woodstock, GA..
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 6th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Fletcher Day Funeral Home (628 N Church St, Thomaston, GA 30286). A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 6th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
