He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Cheely and Otis Hinsley Cheely. He is survived by: his significant other Joy Hester of Tennille; his children, Robert Cheely Jr. of Tennille, Linda Cheely of Arizona, Paul Cheely of Warner Robins and James Cheely (Christin Mason) of Milledgeville; and his siblings, Lillie Mae Turner, Charles Cheely and Frank Cheely. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
