He was predeceased by: his parents, Ulysses Baker and Bernice Baker; his grandparents, Sylvester and Mae Baker; his siblings, Ulysses Baker, George Clark, Renee and Cynthia Baker; and his aunts and uncles, Sylvester Baker, Johnnie Baker, George Baker, Monroe Baker, Kurtis Baker, Mary Lizzie Baker Edwards and Patricia Baker Snell.

He is survived by: his wife Tonya Walker of Tennille, Georgia; his daughters, Katrina Baker Daugherty of Dublin, Shonda Hooper of Valdosta and Regina Bouyer of Dublin; his siblings, Michael Baker (Minnie) of Stone Mountain, Benjamin Baker (Vidalia) of Stone Mountain, Ricky Baker of Illinois, Catherine Nash (Walter) of Illinois, Rochelle Gray (James) of Illinois and Malissa Baker of Illinois; his uncle Richard Baker (Christine) of Dublin; and his aunts, Margaret Drayton of New York and Shirley Massenburg (James) of Knightdale. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren with one great-grandchild, his nieces, nephews, a host of cousins and friends.

Visitation was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the C. D. Dudley Memorial Chapel (617 E Jackson St, Dublin, GA 31021).

Tonya Walker wrote a sympathy message

“As his wife for 28yrs. James was very dear and wonderful husband. He had a beautiful heart that you will love. He had such wisdom and confident.. he also had people who adored him. James was a unique and loved by his wife. Tonya who misses him dearly. There was no children with us. But out of those 28yrs. I will always remember him. We had such good times and great laughter. He loves good food and so did I. I will always remember my husband James Edward Baker of Dublin Georgia. May he be at peac”
