She was predeceased by: her parents, Lillie Mae Hagans and George Brown; her husband Leon Dawson; her sons, Burnice Clay Brown and Allen Brown; and her siblings, Robert Hickson, Claudia Hagans, Georgia Brown, Ida Bell Brown, Mattie K. Hickson, Elizabeth Johnson and Cecile Youngblood.
She is survived by: her children, Mary Lena Harris (Bobby Harris) of Sandersville, GA, Connie Brown of Atlanta, GA, Willie Brown of Sandersville, GA, Janet Merrell (Willie Merrill III) of Tennille, GA, Leomia Dawson (Deborah Bradford) of Duluth, GA and Tony Dawson of Conyers, GA.; her sisters, Retha Biggins (Robert Lee Biggins) and Jeanette Brown; and her boyfriend Michael Renfroe. She is also survived by four sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Clara - Minnie Memorial Chapel. A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Saint James Christian Fellowship Church (5875 Old Savannah Rd, Tennille, GA 31089). A burial was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at the Jordan Station Church Cemetery.
