He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Etta Bragg Swann. He is survived by: his father Phillip Ross Bates, Sr.; his wife Beverly Echols Bates of Temple; his children, Crystal Bates, Amber Bates, Christy Lynn (Denis Skopljak), Nicole (Johnny Loveless), Jennifer Johnson (Michael Shane Wells) of Carrollton and Randy Allen Johnson of Cartersville; and his sisters, Aletha Messel of Villa Rica, Stacy Edwards of Villa Rica and Crissy Edwards of Lafayette, TN. He is also survived by brother, Ray Bates of GA, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.
