He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivers Lewis Smith, Sr. and Christine Eskew Smith; his wife Maxine Dial Smith; his daughter Joyce Horne; and his sisters, Betty Padgett and Barbara Cook.
He is survived by: his children, Joan and Daniel; his daughter-in-law Marion Smith of Broxton, Georgia; and his siblings, Elaine Jiles of Carrollton, Malcom (Doris Smith), Hubert (Shirley Smith), Jimmy (Carol Smith) and Charles (Brenda Smith). He is also survived by six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and several nephews.
