He was predeceased by: his daughter Brittney Cox; and his sister Terri Lynn Cox. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Cox; his children, Kurtis S. Cox, Thomas D. Cox, Tavie R. Cox and Joseph A. Cox; his stepdaughters, Angie Gains, Cindy Jefferson and Jamie Patterson; and his siblings, Gail Doan and James Cox. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
