He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Akin and Eve White Akin; and his siblings, Pearl Bowlin, Mertile Bowlin, Dorris Blue and Charles Akin.
He is survived by: his wife Janelle Akin of Temple; his son Van; his daughter-in-law Diane Brown of Bremen'; and his grandchildren, Brandon Brown of Eddie Brown, II and Kristy Nix. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
