It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jesse James Abernathy of Taylorsville, Georgia, born in Kingston, Georgia, who passed away on April 5, 2024, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Bart Abernathy and Lesie Hubbard Abernathy; his wife Martha G. Abernathy; his daughter Terri Abernathy; and his siblings, Arthur "Bill" Abernathy, Donald Abernathy, Mary Kate Dover and Eunice Johnson.

He is survived by: his children, Jamie Abernathy (Lisa) and Yvonne Mullis; his grandchildren, Tia Abernathy, Taylor Abernathy, TJ Parson and Austen Parson; his great grandchildren, Kyli, Skyler, Aubree, Olivia, Axell and Sawyer; his nephew Don Johnson; and his niece Shirley Kennedy.
