She was predeceased by: her parents, William Daniel Smith and Lillian Akins Smith; her husband James Robert Garner; and her siblings, Inez Roberson and Sonny Smith.

She is survived by: her daughters, Rhonda Blissitt, Valerie Wright and Melanie Savieo; and her siblings, Rachel Deems (Jimmy), Martha Milligan and Harvey "Snook" Smith (Linda). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
