He was predeceased by: his wife Martha Sue Cox Godfrey; his parents, Love Godfrey and Belle Godfrey; his son Lamar Godfrey; and his brothers, Cecil Godfrey, Earl Godfrey, James Godfrey and Cleburn Godfrey.
He is survived by: his children, Trena Godfrey of Jasper and Joey; his daughter-in-law Joy Godfrey of Talking Rock; his son Terry; his daughter-in-law Martha Godfrey of Jasper; his daughter Connie; his son-in-law Kenneth Lowman of Dawsonville; his grandchildren, Adam, Michelle Godfrey, Damon Lowman, Lucy, Douglas Weatherford, T. J. Hester, Seth Godfrey, Isaac Crane and Eli Godfrey; his great grandchildren, Jack Godfrey and Julianna Godfrey; and his sister-in-law Mary Cook of Jasper.
