He was predeceased by: his parents, James Franklin and Ora Belle Nasworthy Whitten; his wife Cathy Whitten; and his siblings, Walter Lee Whitten, Emmett Whitten, Bobby Whitten and Enoch Whitten.
He is survived by: his children, Amy Whitten Bozeman (Gerald) of Sylvester and Adam Whitten (Katie) of Ashburn, GA.; his grandchildren, Desiree Horne, Carlee Bozeman and Jack Whitten; his great grandchildren, Bryson and Oaklyn Horne; and his sister Eva Mae Stephens of Sylvester. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
