It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sophie Elizabeth Oliver Jones (Sylvania, Georgia), who passed away on January 7, 2024, at the age of 100, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ruben E. Oliver and Elizbeth Herrington Oliver; her husband James Allen Jones; her son Glenn Oliver Jones; and her siblings, Sarah Oliver (Newton Lee), Emily Oliver (Leonard Walk), Ruben E., Jr. (Azile Oliver) and Mildred Oliver.
She is survived by: her daughter Joni; her children-in-law, Ray Thompson and Becky Jones of Sylvania; her grandchildren, Jim, Brittany Thompson Cantrell, Johnny, Brittany Thomas Cantrell, Andy, Hays Jones, Cynthia and Duane Bargeron; her stepgrandsons, Matt, Nikki Thompson of Statesboro and Kevin Thompson of Rockwood, TN; her nieces, Sarah Ann Lee Smith and Lana Roberson; her nephew Harold Lee; and her close friend Emmie Thompson. She is also survived by great-nephews, and a great-great niece and nephew.
