He was predeceased by: his parents, William McKinley Wilkes and Lora Strange Wilkes; his wife Shelba Jean Page Wilkes; his son Michael E. Wilkes, Sr.; and his siblings, Rewell Wilkes, Larry Wilkes, Grady Wilkes, Charles Wilkes, Nyla Fennell, Hazel McNutt and Nellie Blalock.
He is survived by: his daughters, Tracy Wilkes Hackle of Swainsboro and Dana Wright (Dave) of Summertown; his grandchildren, Adam Hackle, Jesse Hackle, Christian Hackle (Kalie), Nathan Hackle, Michael E. Wilkes, II, Shaina Edwards (Daryl), Kaitlyn Wright, Leanne Wright and Abby Wright; and his great grandchildren, Ethan Hackle, Evie Hackle, Eli Hackle, Summer Hackle, Shelby Edwards, Isaac Edwards, Aiden Wright and Samuel Sapp. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
