She was predeceased by: her parents, Doc Hughes and Lillie Bell Benefield Hughes; her children, Rosie Carswell, Ed Willie Carswell and Joseph Carswell; her siblings, Thomas Hughes, Willie Frank Hughes, Doc Hughes, Jr., Willie Mae Hughes, Rosa Lee Hughes, Lillie Bell Bynes and Annie Mae George; and her grandsons, Kenneth Moore, Jr. and Terrence Hill.
She is survived by: her children, Jimmy Carswell of Atlanta, John Henry Carswell of Seattle, WA, Dock Carswell (Angela) of Swainsboro and Betty King; and her siblings, Mary Oglesby (Michael) of Canoochee, Brenda Mack of Millen, Annie Hill (London) of Swainsboro, Tarra Carswell of Swainsboro and Annie Wadley of Swainsboro. She is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 102 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends.
