He was predeceased by: his brother Jimmy Chavis; his stepdaughter Loretta Conley Sanchez; and his great grandchild Adilynn Carter. He is survived by: his wife Gloria Jean Brown Chavis of Swainsboro; his stepdaughters, Lisa Hooks (Steve) of Swainsboro, Roxanne Gay (Jay) of Norristown and Rebecca Fletcher (Kris) of Rentz; his siblings, William Chavis, Jr. (Wanda) of Swainsboro, Jerry Chavis of Augusta, Michael Chavis of Vidalia and Bonnie Chavis (Darrel) of Adrian; his grandchildren, Darrell Martin, Amber Gay, Brandon Gay (Brooke), Kelsey Gay (Matt Giles), Jayson Gay, Jace Gay, Carlos Conley, Megan Conley and Wesley Carter; and his great grandchildren, Kingston Gay, Lakelyon Gay and Raelynn Carter. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
