With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Herman McKenzie of Swainsboro, Georgia, who passed away on February 25, 2025 at the age of 87. As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Herman may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, George Mckenzie and Mattie McBride; his wife Janet Elizabeth Peacock; and his brothers, Clifford McKenzie, Frank McKenzie, Rudolph McKenzie, Henry McKenzie and Hershel McKenzie.
He is survived by: his close friend Eva Ellmore; his daughters, Janelle Jones (Roy) of Richmond Hill and Georgia Mae Kersey (Arlie) of Kite; and his grandson Garrett Jones (Ella Boissonnault). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Chapman Funeral Home (427 N Main St, Swainsboro, GA 30401). A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Bithynia Cemetery.
