He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton Columbus "C. C." and Pauline Chance Simmons; and his wife Greta Ellen Lumpkin Simmons. He is survived by: his children, Gennie Simmons Wright (Noel) of Isle, Clay Simmons (Sandi) of Birmingham and Bill Simmons (Marcie) of Swainsboro, GA.; and his grandchildren, Tripp Howard, Joe Howard, Wes Simmons, Jessica Simmons Collins, Heath Simmons, Rachel Simmons, Laura Simmons, David Simmons, Kelly Roper and Megan Cobb. He is also survived by Twenty-two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
