William D. Combs Obituary
William D. Combs, age 79, of Suwanee passed away June 9, 2017. He was born in Kensington, GA on April 7, 1938. William was preceded in death by his parents William and Estie Combs; brother, Robert "Bob" Combs; sister, Chloe Schweitzer. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maxine E. Combs; daughter, Tammy C. Cruz and her husband Johnny, Peachtree City, GA; son, David G. Combs and his wife Ellen, Cumming, GA; sister, Peggy Faye Walden and her husband Charles, Goulds, FL; grandchildren, Ryan LeFevre, Falon Crossland, Michael Combs, Stephen Combs; great grandchildren, William Wyatt Crossland and Lynley Hope Crossland.
After receiving a BBA from the University of Miami (majoring in Accounting and Business Law), William worked as an IRS Agent and as a Criminal Investigator. Before retiring in 1987 to start his own consulting business in systems design and software development, he worked for Coca Cola, BellSouth, AIG Insurance, Honeywell, and other major firms. He also prepared tax returns for many years.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday June 14, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel with Dr. Ken Dove officiating. Interment to follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation, in William's memory, to Gracepointe Church of the Nazarene, 2900 Rosebud Rd., Loganville, GA 30052. The family will receive friends Tuesday June 13th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at Wages & Sons Gwinnett Chapel 1031 Lawrenceville Highway, Lawrenceville, GA 30046. 770-277-4550.
