He was predeceased by: his parents, John Harold and Moselle Carter; and his brother Allen Carter. He is survived by: his wife Frederica Carter; his daughters, Brooke Patton and Carrie (Mark Stewart); his siblings, Ellen (Ken Davis), Andrea (Nick Williams) and Dickie (Kay Carter); and his grandchildren, Carter Patton, Mary Wade Patton and Ryan Patton.
