She was predeceased by: her parents, Lofton Hitchcock and Elizabeth Pendley Hitchcock of Missouri; her husband John Walter Tompkins, Sr.; her children, Teresa Tompkins Luke and John Walter Tompkins, Jr.; and her brothers, Wilbur Walters and Merton Walters.

She is survived by: her daughters, Mary Hartsfield (James) of Worth County and Patricia Brooks (Kenneth) of Worth County; and her grandchildren, Jamie Hartsfield, Kristi Whittington, Keith Brooks, Staci Duckworth, Kevin Tompkins, Walt Tompkins, Leanne Hall, Bradley Luke, Josh Luke, Laura Luke and Matthew Luke. She is also survived by great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and other extended family.
