He was predeceased by: his parents, William Otto Swinford and Mable Lucille Madden Swinford; his former wife Cynthia Grace Pavely Swinford; his son Troy Douglas Swinford; and his siblings, Paul Swinford and Carolyn Sims.

He is survived by: his wife Kathy Foster Swinford; his son William Henry Swinford; his siblings, Mather Swinford (Carolyn) and Charlotte Bedwell (Billy Ray); and his grandchildren, Camron McLaughlin (Linda-Kay) and Brittani Swinford (David). He is also survived by great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
