He is survived by: his son Lieutenant Colonel John E. Steen, II; his grandchild Jones Kuner of Huntsville, AL; his daughter Brandi Steen Thomas (Don Strickland) of Greenwood, SC; his grandchildren, Private Jackson Thomas of Greenwood, SC, Tyler Thomas of Greenwood, SC, Cooper Thomas of Greenwood, SC, Chase Strickland of Greenwood, SC, Hailey Steen of Huntsville, AL, Owen Steen of Huntsville, AL, Molly Steen of Huntsville, AL and Eryn Steen of Huntsville, AL; his sister Jacqueline Steen Poplin of Florida; and his close friend Sharron Burroughs. He is also survived by several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic private graveside services with Military Honors will be conducted at Oakbrook Memorial Park in Greenwood, SC.
