He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Clarence Gorman Gilley and Dorothy Slater Gilley of Summerville; his sons, John Porter Gilley, Samuel Cobb Gilley and Thomas Houston Gilley of Athens; his stepson Will Frame of Gainesville, Georgia.; his sister Carole Smith (Jim) of Versailles; his cousin Jan Cordle (Lann) of Summerville; and his nieces, Ashley Keck and Andrea Abell (Patrick). He was also cherished by two great nieces, a great nephew, cousins, and many loving friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations made to Nuci's Space, 396 Oconee St., Athens, GA 30601, an organization dedicated to ending the stigma of mental illness and alleviating the suffering for those living with a brain illness.
