He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Payton and Hattie Tudor Payton; his wife Lois Jewell West Payton; and his siblings, Mary Jo Payton, Lanora Culver, J. L., Billy and Sidney Payton.
He is survived by: his siblings, Glenda DeBerry of Trion, GA, Carolyn Cooper (Stan) of Rock Spring, GA, Deborah Brown (David) of Dalton, GA, Horace Payton (Norma Jean) of Trion, GA and Larry Payton (Karen) of Cartersville, GA; and his granddaughters, Amber Pettigrew and Amanda Abbott. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
