He was predeceased by: his parents, Ransom Herbert Downes, Sr. and Juanita Blackwood Downes; his wife Claire Downes; his brothers, Donald Downes, Jr. and Ransom Downes, Jr.; and his grandson Evan Nash Young.
He is survived by: his daughters, Chrissie Downes, Laurel Downes Doster and Cindy Young; his sister Jane Downes; and his son Randy Pierson. He is also survived by six Grandchildren and two Great Grandchildren.
