She was predeceased by: her mother Rosa Bohannon; her son Morris Bankston; her adoptive parents, Charlie Clay and Bertha Clay; and her siblings, Roosevelt Montgomery, John Anthony, Arthur Irving, Laura Adams and Annie Lizzie McCullough.
She is survived by: her husband Jessie James Bankston; her children, Gwen Nichols (John), Valerie Thompson (James), Katie Price, Fred Bankston and Belinda Bankston; her brother Robert Reese; and her siblings-in-law, Doris Shepherd (Wilbur), Eva Byron and Mactine Bankston. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
