He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Benjamin Kirkland and Jane Ellen Moxley Kirkland; his wife Sandra Hale Kirkland; and his siblings, Jake Kirkland, Ben Kirkland, Gene Kirkland and Janie Butler.
He is survived by: his children, George Kirkland (Donna) of Midville, Dennis Kirkland (Meisha) of Summertown, Thomas Kirkland (Ashley) of Statesboro and Denise Kirkland Wheeler of Summertown; his siblings, Bill Kirkland of Midville, Pearl Burch of Edgeville, S. C., Nellie Beasley (Bill) of Augusta, Lena Wood of Augusta and Martha Register (Jerry); and his grandchildren, Morgan, Denny, Cassy and Cane. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and many friends.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
