He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathan Edward Rice and Nellie Marie Holman Rice; his daughter Carol Hammer Rice (Kim Cate Rice); and his brothers, Nathan Eddy Rice, Jr. and Bobby Rice.

He is survived by: his son Mike Rice; his grandchildren, Shane Rice, Michael Rice, Mathew Rice and Meagan Rice; his great grandchildren, Dean Rice, Callie Rice, Chloe Rice, Isaiah Rice, Ryland Murray and Sela Murray; and his siblings, Charles Aubrey Rice, Henry Rice and Dana Reid.
