He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Gibbs and Ruby Elaine Gibbs of Jonesboro, GA; his brothers, Johnny and Bobby Gibbs; and his sister-in-law Miriam Joyce Gibbs.

He is survived by: his siblings, Tommy Gibbs, Elaine Gibbs of Jonesboro and Mary Edna Minter of Florida; and his children, Donny Gibbs (Lynnette), Cecelia Gibbs Chambers (Alan), Joni Gibbs Hyde (Jim), Georgia Gibbs Sexton (Tim) and Camille Gibbs Mixon (Scott). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
