He was predeceased by : his parents, Oliver Sherrod, Sr. and Annie Mae Alcott Sherrod; the mother of his children Gloria Sherrod; his siblings, Bud Sherrod, Oliver Sherrod, Jr., Green Sherrod, Billy Sherrod, Annie Ruth Oglesby, Margaret Brown and Jeanette Boatright; his son-in-law Curtis Beckum; and his great grandchild Grant Elliott Hill.

He is survived by : his children, James Earl Sherrod, Jr. of Stillmore, Ronnie Sherrod (Teresa Holloway) of Metter, Shirley Stapleton (James) of Swainsboro, Cindy Moore (Kenneth) of Swainsboro, Dorothy Beckum of Aline and Cynthia Sherrod of Stillmore. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren with one on the way, several nieces, nephews, in-laws and many friends.
