He was predeceased by : his parents, George Lester Ackerman and Cora Kessler Ackerman; and his siblings, Rose Canady (Bob), Gene Ackerman (Jeanelle) and Bruce Ackerman.

He is survived by : his nephew Ricky Canady; and his siblings, Brenda Helmly, Steve Ackerman (Cheryl) and Nancy Ackerman Robbins. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
