He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Scruggs and Ola Dell Williams Scruggs; his wife Helen Frasier Scruggs; his daughter Cheryl Scruggs; and his siblings, Billy Scruggs and Elise Beaver.
He is survived by: his daughter Melisa Dean of Martin; his granddaughters, Dana Miller and Anna Thomas (Nick); his great grandchildren, Emmitt Rider, Kaden Rider, Landon Payne, Nicholas Thomas, Lincoln Thomas and Lennox Thomas; and his siblings, Louise Scruggs Knight, Ronald "Tootsie" Scruggs and Nicky Scruggs.
