He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy L. Smith and Billie D. Smith; his stepmother Myra J. Smith; and his brother Dr. Don T. Smith. He is survived by: his wife Joann Smith; his children, Sherri Gehle (Rick) of Moultrie, Sindi Azar (Bobby) of Augusta, Sandra Nall (Hugh) of Leesburg, Stasia Smith (Brian) of Portal and Chip Smith of Portal; his sisters, Barbra S. Podesta of Long Island and Linda Hubbard (Ike) of Portal; and his brother-in-law Jimmy Akins (RubyAnn) of Statesboro. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
