He was predeceased by: his father Nathaniel Mikell; his grandparents, Mattie Sue and Jesse Perkins; his uncles, Burnice Perkins (Verneta), Melvin Perkins (Annie Will), Emory Perkins, Jesse Perkins (Margaret) and George Perkins (Mae Ethel); and his aunt Shirley Mikell (Rubin).

He is survived by: his mother Glinnis Pierce; his siblings, Alexander Pierce (Norma), Gleneria Stoney (Joseph) and Johnny Pierce (Terra); his aunts, Geraldine Robinson (Thomas), Annette Denson (Graylon), Delores Jackson, Ada Williams, Shelby Jean Pierce, Willie M. Perkins-Arscott (Fedy) and Mary Alice Hardy (Ace); and his great-aunts, Carrie Lee Rolle, Gertude Perkins and Gladys Whitfield. He is also survived by other nieces, nephews, cousins.
