He was predeceased by: his parents, John Elzy Akins and Bertis Dickerson Akins; and his brother John Donald Akins. He is survived by: his wife Ruby Ann Skinner Akins of Statesboro; his daughter Pam; his son-in-law Wyman Harley of Statesboro; his son Stanley; his daughter-in-law Kathy Akins of Statesboro; his sister Joann A. Smith of Portal; and his siblings-in-law, Daniel and Donna Deal of Statesboro. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
